At Mondays meeting I spoke to U3A members telling them that my days of being the Web Master for U3A had come to an end. My sight is getting worse, my right eye continually weeps and only sees everything blurred, I can still see colours but no true outlines. The left eye is 6/6 and I hope it stays this way at least into my 80s. I have a medical notation on my licence.
The program I have now is not as friendly as DreamweaverMX and it is a nightmare getting items to lock in place. I have heard that U3A has a trained Technician who may get things going again.
It was back is about 1998 that I visited U3A at Coker Hall with plans to help members with computer issues. Nothing came of that because of lack of equipment and a room.
Then Richard Tosen from CQNET gave me Front Page and said he wanted a web site for the original Capricorn Helicopter Rescue and it ran until the RACQ became the major sponsor and took the site over.
Looking at the history of all of my Webs it must have been between 1998 and 2002 that I created a Draft U3A website and put it on Tripod. Then at a meeting I asked Mss West the President, if U3A would like a web site. Then I gave her the URL so she and the committee could look at it. They decided it could show others what we do. Tripod used Adds and I asked my ISP if they could HOST our site and that is where it has been ever since. The Domain name u3arockhampton.org.au is registered with Vodien and active until 16 April 2029.
There have been MANY changes and much more information available for members and visitors.
Here are some statistics from the site: 2054 photos and PDFs, not all active. 90 Web pages including the conference and some of those may not be active. The site on the web is 458.7Megabytes This year we have had 2401 people visit and they looked at 6636 pages. NO one looked at the site in March, June, July and September.

Officeworks only has 16Gb USBs and higher or you could purchase an external USB 1 TB hard drive and they have one cord that plugs into a USB port. Don’t rush in this area because many new external devices come with a USB Type C. When shopping don’t panic because there are hundreds of plugs and cords, adaptors, just ask for assistance.
